Upset Forging
Composite Forgings, Ltd. produce a range of forgings using the upset die forging process. Upset die forging produces a high strength, homogeneous, and durable forging perfect for high performance applications.
What is Upset Forging?
Upset forging decreases the length of the part and increases the diameter. Upset forging is commonly used to produce parts such as engine valves, bolts, and screws.
Upset forging helps to improve the mechanical properties by realigning the grain to follow the shape of the part, resulting in unbroken grains throughout the part. The result is a component which is considerably stronger than one produced through welding, casting, or machining.
Benefits of Upset Forgings
Upset forging offers an array of benefits, including:
- High strength
- Improved grain structure
- Improved mechanical properties
- Deformation resistance
